My Story: The Heart Behind the Etch
In June 2019, my world was turned upside down when my son was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. During his first treatment, he developed a painful complication that left him unable to eat or drink for 14 days. In the middle of that struggle, something unexpected happened—he began to draw.
His favorite characters were always food, each one with a big, happy smile. When I asked him why they were smiling, he said, “Because they are not being eaten.” Even in the hardest moments, his drawings filled our hearts with laughter and reminded us to hold on to joy.
Those simple sketches awakened something in me. They reminded me of the artistic side of my family—of my father, who passed away in 2020, and of the creativity I now see in my children and grandchildren. Art became more than an outlet; it became a way to heal, to connect, and to honor both the past and the present.
That’s how this journey began—through love, resilience, and the desire to share art that brings smiles. What started in hospital rooms during some of our hardest days has grown into something deeply meaningful that I now get to share with others. Every design I create carries a piece of that story: a reminder that beauty and hope can shine even in life’s toughest chapters.
