The Time Capsule: Personalized XL Memory Box
Your Guide to Wood Care: Keep It Beautiful for Generations
Thank you for choosing one of our personalized wood pieces! Whether it's a cutting board, serving stand, or set of coasters, following these simple guidelines will ensure your item remains a beautiful heirloom for years to come.
1. The Golden Rule: Hand Wash Only
For ALL your wood items (Walnut, Acacia, Maple, Bamboo):
- Best Practice: Use a soft cloth, mild dish soap, and cool water. Wash quickly, then immediately wipe dry with a clean towel.
- What to AVOID: NEVER put wood in the dishwasher. The intense heat and prolonged moisture will strip the wood's natural oils, causing it to warp, crack, or split.
2. Conditioning for Cutting & Serving Boards
Your cutting and serving boards need regular nourishment to stay looking their best:
- Oil Regularly: Apply food-grade mineral oil or a wood board wax at least once a month, or whenever the wood appears dry or dull. This conditions the wood and prevents drying.
- What to AVOID: DO NOT soak your wood items in water. Prolonged moisture is the single biggest cause of damage. Also, NEVER use cooking oils like vegetable or olive oil—they will go rancid over time and leave a sticky, unpleasant residue.
3. Care for Coasters, Stands, and Engraved Areas
Smaller items and engraved surfaces require gentle attention:
- Wipe Clean: For coasters and serving stands used for light duty (like holding a cookbook), simply wipe the surface with a dry or lightly damp cloth.
- Engraved Areas: Clean the engravings gently with a soft brush to remove residue, and dry immediately.
• Final Tip: Do not leave wet glasses, dishes, or other damp items sitting on the wood for long periods of time, as this can cause water damage.
